DeMatha Catholic (Hyattsville, MD) senior defensive end Jeremiah Mathis , a 6-3, 244-pound prospect who has seen his recruitment intensify greatly after a superb senior season, plans to make an official visit to the University of Virginia this weekend. UVa is one of a handful of offers for Mathis, who tallied over 90 tackles including 13 sacks in his senior season.

“Jeremiah is going down this weekend on an official visit to Virginia,” DeMatha head coach Bill McGregor said this afternoon. “They thought it would be best if they take him officially now and show him everything, take him through the academic end and athletic end and sit down with Al and everything.”

In addition to Virginia, Mathis has been offered by Kansas State, Maryland, New Mexico, N.C. State and Syracuse, among others. He took an unofficial visit to Virginia on December 20th and enjoyed the trip, so a good experience this weekend could result in a commitment.
