South County Secondary School (Lorton, VA), which opened in 2005, will have its first Division 1A football recruit come out of the 2010 class. Safety prospect Andre Simmons has earned two Division 1A scholarship offers and could well receive more according to South County head coach Pete Bendorf.

“He is not only a very good player, but he is an excellent student,” Bendorf said of Simmons, who has been offered by Illinois and Virginia. “He has a 3.7 GPA taking honors and AP classes. He plays free safety for us. He is 6-0, 195 pounds. He runs well and he is committed to getting better. He is a physical player. He runs under a 4.6 in the 40, but he is not a 4.3-40 cover guy.”

Simmons traveled to UVa this past Saturday, which is when he picked up the offer from head coach Al Groh.
