Woodward Academy (College Park, GA) defensive end Henry Anderson has received 10 official scholarship offers and has hit the recruiting trail in recent months, having visited four of the schools that have offered including Stanford, Vanderbilt, Virginia and Wake Forest. The 6-6, 243-pound junior attended Virginia’s Feb. 28 junior day. Almost a month later remains excited about the experience.

“I went up there for a junior day. There were only eight guys there, which was really different from a lot of junior days where there are hundreds of players there. I liked that aspect of it,” Anderson reflected. “Coach Groh offered me when I was there. I was really excited about it. I know the school has one of the best academic reputations in the country. I really like the campus. I thought the facilities were amazing. The weight room, the locker room…all of it just blew me away. I loved all the coaches. I talked to Coach Latrell Scott, who is recruiting me, and Coach Wilt, the defensive line coach, for a long time. I got to know them pretty well. Obviously there is Coach Groh, too. I talked to him for a while. He is a professional guy. He seemed like a coach I’d love to play for. He has a lot of experience. I think right now Virginia is probably one of my favorites. It is probably near the top if not at the top. I’ve visited a lot of other schools and I think Virginia’s campus and facilities are probably some of the best I’ve seen so far.”

Anderson, who has also taken trips Alabama and Georgia Tech but has yet to receive an offer from either program, has been impressed by other visits as well.
