6-3, 185-pound Pablo Alvarez has enjoyed success in each sport he has played on the high school level. Of course there is football, the sport in which he received a handful of scholarship offers before accepting the one from the University of Virginia. But he also excels in track and has done well in basketball at Belen Jesuit School (Miami, Florida).

“Athletically, he is probably one of the best I’ve had,” said Richard Stuart, who is entering his 27th year as the Belen Jesuit’s head varsity football coach. “The kid is so well rounded. He is a great basketball player as well. He was the team’s MVP this past year. He is great at track and field. He would’ve been the state champion in two hurdles races (110m and 300m) this season had he not gotten hurt before the regionals. He had run times that were faster than the state championship times. Hopefully, next year he’ll be able to do that. He is just athletically fantastic.

“As a football player, he gets better and better every day. He is a wide receiver and cornerback for us. He’ll play safety. Whatever we need him to do, he’ll do it. He is so fast that he covers a lot of mistakes.”
