South County (Fairfax, VA) defensive back Andre Simmons is working towards narrowing his list of schools, South County head coach Pete Bendorf says. The 6-0, 195-pound rising senior, holder of eight Division 1A scholarship offers, could have something soon.

Coach Bendorf updated the latest on Simmons, who picked up two new offers last month.

“He got an offer from Vanderbilt and an offer from Rutgers,” Bendorf said of Simmons, who is ranked #17 in TheSabre.com’s In-State Pre-Summer Top 30. “He went to both places and liked them a lot. As has been the typical thing, he has liked every visit he has been on. My advice to him was to take a couple of weeks, get away from it, organize his thoughts and sit back. I think he is pretty close to narrowing down his choices, which I think he’ll do in late July. His plan right now is to make a decision at the end of August or the first of September. He doesn’t seem to me to be a kid who wants to drag it out.”
