Gwynn Park RB Pledges to Virginia

Khalek Shepherd ‘s recruiting card

The Virginia football program received some good news yesterday, when 5-8, 175-pound Gwynn Park (Brandywine, MD) running back Khalek Shepherd became the 10th high school senior to commit to the Cavaliers. A 4-year starter on the varsity level, Shepherd is known for his production and leadership.

“Basically, he is the hardest working kid I’ve ever coached,” Gwynn Park head coach Danny Hayes said. “I’ve said that since his ninth grade year. He goes 110 percent all the time. He is a high spirited guy. He plays bigger than he is. That’s what Coach Anthony Poindexter said about him. He is a very hard worker and a leader. He is somebody you want leading your team.”

Shepherd gets the job done on and off the field. In the classroom, he carries a 3.88 GPA and wants to study Engineering in college. On the gridiron, he made his presence felt on the varsity level as a freshman and has continued to be productive throughout his career.
