Hours after being introduced as the new head coach of University of Virginia football, Mike London scored the first commitment of his tenure. 6-3, 215-pound quarterback Michael Strauss , a standout senior out of Gulliver Prep in Miami, Florida, pledged to Coach London and hopes to enroll at UVa in January.

“To my understanding, once Michael got to meet with Coach London, that’s what he was waiting on,” said Gulliver Prep head coach Earl Sims, a former linebacker at the University of Virginia. “He knew what he was going to do. He talked to Coach London over the phone when he had more time to speak with him and that’s when he went ahead and committed.”

Asked about the possibility of early enrollment, Sims said, “That’s still in the works. He wants to enroll in January, but I haven’t heard anything new on the situation.”

Strauss carries a 3.4 GPA and is on track to graduate in December. Sims sees nothing but positives should his former standout signal caller be accepted for early enrollment.
