WF’s Reynolds Nearing Decision

Ed Reynolds’ recruiting card

Virginia head coach Mike London made an overture to Woodberry Forest (VA) senior Ed Reynolds II on Monday, hoping to convince the 6-3, 200-pound safety to give the Cavaliers a another look. Reynolds, the son of former Virginia linebacker Ed Reynolds, had UVa high on his list before former head coach Al Groh pulled his scholarship offer. The younger Reynolds updated the latest on his decision, stating where UVa currently stands on his list of schools.

“Timetable-wise, I plan on making my decision sometime next week or the following week,” Reynolds said. “The three schools I took visits to – Stanford, UNC and Duke – are my top three right now. Coach London came to see me this past Monday. He said he was reinstating my scholarship and if it’s not too late to consider them. I’m thinking about that, too. I don’t want to completely put them out of it. Virginia is not a place I have to go visit because I’ve been around there for a long time. I’m thinking about them as well, but the three I visited I would say are my top three.”

Reynolds, a VIS first-team all-state selection at running back and safety, is impressed with London but acknowledges that the new coach may simply be too late to make a difference.
