Swanson Happy to be a Hoo
Upon returning from an official visit to West Point, Zachary Swanson learned that the University of Virginia had extended an official scholarship offer. The 6-6, 225-pound Katy (TX) senior accepted coach Mike London’s offer last night, becoming the newest member of Virginia’s 2010 class. He plans to sign a letter of intent with the Cavaliers tomorrow.
“It came down to the wire,” Swanson said of his recruitment. “It has been a stressful process, having to basically redo it, but it has been almost good. I got to sit down and really evaluate what the best place for me would be. Before this whole process started, I always wanted to go to school in the South. Virginia fits that bill.”
Swanson originally committed to Stanford. When he was asked to grey-shirt and enroll in January of 2011, however, he decided to go in another direction.
