Ray Keys made this catch and ran for a touchdown to end Saturday’s action.

Shortly after Saturday’s Spring Game at Scott Stadium, receiver Ray Keys stood surrounded by reporters in the south end zone. Nearby, two children waited patiently as fans to add Keys’ name to their ink-filled posters. Before answering some additional questions, Keys took time to sign his autograph for the young fans. And why not? He once stood in their shoes.

“I can kind of understand where a lot of these kids are coming from. [Some of them are] sons and daughters of alumni here and I’m the exact same way they were,” Keys said. “Coming to the games, being around all the guys who seem so big. I try to seem friendly to them and say ‘Are you coming to UVa?’ because you know one day it could come true. You never know, some little kid could be out here doing the exact same thing that I’m doing.”
