Diamonte Bailey Accepts Virginia Offer

Hermitage (Richmond, VA) junior defensive end Diamonte Bailey scored an official scholarship offer from the University of Virginia earlier today and it didn’t take long for him to accept. This evening, the 6-3, 220-pound prospect became the sixth high school junior to commit to Virginia’s 2011 class.

Of the four commits (including “soft” commit Clifton Richardson ) Mike London has secured since taking over as Cavaliers head coach in December, all four hail from the Commonwealth.

“He committed,” Hermitage head coach Patrick Kane said of Bailey, who chose Virginia over an offer from Marshall. “I spoke to his mother and she said they just got off the phone with the coaches.

“I know Diamonte had been up to Virginia several times. He expressed interest in them and they showed interest, so it was a mutual deal. He was hoping they would offer, so when they did he had already thought about what he would do.”
