DeMatha Catholic (Hyattsville, MD) cornerback Mike Williams has received an official scholarship offer from the University of Maryland, the school where his older brother, Madieu, starred before moving on to the NFL. Mike, a 5-11, 175-pound junior, has caught the attention of other schools as well, including the University of Virginia.

“I’m hearing from Virginia right now. I’ve talked to Buffalo, talked to Illinois, Iowa and Cincinnati. I’m hearing from Pitt. I’ve heard from Duke, too,” Williams said.

Williams has yet to visit Virginia – he’ll do that for the first time next month – but he has gotten a good feeling from the coaches.

“I get the sense like it would be another home,” he said. “I’m planning on going down there on the junior day on June 6. I’ll see how the campus is then. They are showing a lot of interest. Coach Moore and Coach Poindexter came up to see me workout [yesterday]. We’ve talked. They have a lot of interest.”
