The Evaluation Period is now over and Damascus (MD) cornerback/wide receiver Brandon Phelps holds 21 official scholarship offers, with Alabama being the most recent school to offer. Phelps, a 6-0, 170-pound rising senior, recalls a busy Evaluation Period and looks ahead to what will be an important summer.
The Evaluation Period
“Going through the process, it has been real crazy with phone calls and visits from coaches and everything,” Phelps said. “It’s started to calm down, so I’ve had more of a chance to think about my options and plan my summer, which will consist of me taking a lot of visits and hopefully making my decision before the start of the season.”
A typical day in the Evaluation Period meant constant trips to the Damascus football office, where recruiters flocked in April and May. Phelps’ evenings consisted of contact from college coaches.
