Robert Morey struggled with locating his pitches Sunday.

Strong pitching and airtight defense, which have epitomized Virginia baseball under Brian O’Connor, went AWOL on Sunday afternoon as Oklahoma bested the Cavaliers 10-7, knotting their best-of-three Charlottesville Super Regional at one game apiece.

UVa (51-13) took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning but after surrendering four runs and the lead in the bottom of the frame, it never could reclaim it. The Cavaliers tied the score at four in the top of the third and cut a four-run Sooner advantage to one in the top of the sixth but Oklahoma (48-16) had an answer each time. O’Connor pointed to that failure as key to Sunday’s loss.
