Boston College, Duke, Maryland, Penn State, Rutgers, Stanford, Syracuse, Virginia and Wake Forest offered Stone Bridge (Ashburn, VA) rising senior Rob Burns , but in the end the decision came down to ACC rivals BC and UVa. A phone conversation between Cavaliers defensive line coach Jeff Hanson and the 6-7, 230-pound Bulldogs defensive end sealed the deal for Virginia.

“This was a really hard process,” Burns said. “I took visits to all the schools that offered. One by one, I eliminated schools. It was a real struggle, but I got it down to BC and UVa. A phone call I made to Coach Hanson was the tipping point for UVa.”

Burns recalled the week’s events.

“I narrowed it down to Boston College or UVa this week. I just got back from Boston College and felt like I had my questions answered there,” Burns said. “I gave Coach Hanson a call. When I talked to him, I just felt comfortable.”
