Newton (Covington, GA) linebacker prospect D.J. Hill had caught the attention of UVa linebackers coach Vincent Brown, but there was one issue of concern before the Cavaliers would extend an offer.

“I talked to Coach Brown this spring and we had a good conversation about D.J.,” Newton head coach Nick Collins said. “It came down to Coach Brown wondering whether or not D.J. would be considering Virginia. He is. He and his parents loved what they saw online and came away impressed.”

Virginia came through with an official scholarship offer for the 6-1, 220-pound Hill, who has also been offered by Alabama-Birmingham, Memphis, Mississippi, Southern Miss and Vanderbilt. Hill has yet to visit UVa, but he plans to do so either later this month or some time in August.

According to Collins, UVa is high on the talented linebacker’s list.
