Kameron Mack’s Role Expanding In 2010

I.C. Norcom (Portsmouth, VA) lost 25 seniors from its 2009 squad, meaning a youthful group will take the field in 2010. University of Virginia commit Kameron Mack , a starter since his sophomore year, is one of the few players with significant varsity football experience. He’ll be counted upon to play a key role both in terms of production and leadership.

“He looks real good,” Norcom head coach Larry Archie said of Mack. “His speed is better. He is showing a lot more leadership, still primarily through his play. He is a little more vocal, but he’s just not a big talker. He is doing the things he is supposed to do.”

In the past, Mack, a 2-sport athlete, focused heavily on AAU basketball during the offseason. His focus shifted to football this offseason, though, and his coach has noticed the positive results.

“He’s faster and quicker,” Archie said. “His body has changed a lot. When you play basketball, there is more lean muscle. With football, there is more bulk. He is up to 207 pounds right now. And he is still 6-5 and change.”
