First Impressions

You probably felt the same way I did at times Saturday. You think maybe that breakout game is around the corner. Georgia Tech, which has looked vulnerable at times this season, turns the ball over to negate some early drives – maybe this is our day.

The Cavaliers play tough; they hang with a stronger, more talented opponent but always seem unable to execute at the most crucial times. Jumping off-sides to give the opponent a first down and extend what ultimately culminates in a touchdown drive. Throwing interceptions inside the red zone. Missing crucial blocks that were likely the difference in a 27-yard kickoff return and a touchdown. An ill-timed and silly personal foul. Missing a tackle that turned a two-yard loss into a 70-yard scoring run.

We’ve seen this before. Close – and yet so far.
