Grafton’s Stallings Receiving Strong FBS Interest

Grafton (Yorktown, VA) finished its 2010 season with an 8-3 record that included its first playoff appearance in five years. Bay Rivers district Coach of the Year Jared Van Acker will return seven offensive and eight defensive starters next season, highlighted by top junior prospect Dylan Stallings .

“He never stops,” Van Acker said of Stallings, a wide receiver/tight end and defensive end. “Other kids can’t take a play off against a kid like Dylan. A lot of times, two or three guys will be needed to stop him. He is that explosive of a player on defense. On offense, pretty much every team double-teamed him. He helped us out a lot offensively this year. The big-play threat he is earns attention from the other team.”

Stallings, who stands 6-4 and weighs 220 pounds, boasts 4.7-second speed in the 40 according to Van Acker. The versatile junior alternates from wide receiver to tight end on offense. He earned first-team all-Bay Rivers district honors at wide receiver in 2010.

“He has a strong upper body and he is a big kid for tight end. He’s used as a blocker. He’s one of our main blockers. He’s also a tough receiving threat at tight end. Most of the time, he is manned up with an inside linebacker, which is a huge mismatch because of Dylan’s athletic ability. He’s quick. When he goes to the outside, he usually draws a corner that is no bigger than 6-0, and that’s a size mismatch,” Van Acker said.
