Hermitage Notes: Miles-Redmond With 3 Offers

Hermitage (Richmond, VA) offensive lineman/defensive tackle Andre Miles-Redmond visited Virginia and Virginia Tech this past week, and we’ll have more on those visits later this week. Panthers head coach Patrick Kane provided the scoop on his latest FBS-level recruit, a 6-4, 265-pound junior who has scored verbal offers from N.C. State, UVa and Virginia Tech. Duke and Maryland have shown serious interest as well.

“He is athletic. He’s mobile. He moves extremely well,” Kane said of Miles-Redmond, who started at right offensive tackle in 2010. “He could play on either side at the next level. He played mostly offensive tackle for us, but he played more and more defense as the season went on and he played extremely well.

“Our biggest need was on the offensive line last year, so we plugged him in there. As the season went on, as we accrued injuries, we played him over on defense. He came to us with the defensive mentality.”

Miles-Redmond may move from right to left tackle next season, though nothing has been determined as of yet. On the next level, “He is a left tackle kind of guy with his athleticism,” Kane said. “He’s thin, too, even though he is 6-4, 265 pounds. There is a lot of room to add weight on him at the next level. On the defensive side, he’s very aggressive. Probably, if he had his choice, he would be on defense.”
