Reinstated Walcott Switching Spots

Ausar Walcott

Junior Ausar Walcott has been reinstated to the Cavalier football team after missing the spring practice period. Walcott had been suspended indefinitely for conduct detrimental to the team since Feb. 8 along with junior center Mike Price and junior cornerback Devin Wallace . All three players had been charged in a fight near James Madison University. On April 5, all charges were dropped against Walcott while Price and Wallace pled guilty to misdemeanor charges of assault and battery. Price and Wallace remain suspended.

London said Wednesday that Walcott would not be in the mix at linebacker where he started 11 games last season at the WILL (weak side) position and recorded the team’s third highest tackle total with 56 stops. Instead, Walcott is moving to defensive end. That continues what has been quite a transition for Walcott; remember, he had been working at safety in Al Groh’s final season before moving up to linebacker last season.
