UVa Football Gains Norfolk Christian DB

The Virginia football program is on the board once again in the 2012 recruiting class. Norfolk Christian (Norfolk, VA) junior wide receiver/linebacker Wil Wahee received an offer from UVa this past Saturday, and it took all of one day before he accepted. Wahee informed the Virginia coaches of his decision on Sunday.

“[Wil] committed to Virginia,” Norfolk Christian offensive coordinator Vashawn Parker said.

“A lot of mid-majors were in on him, but UVa was the one he has liked for some time. He waited his time out. When they offered, he knew what he wanted to do. He went and visited last [fall for the Eastern Michigan game], so he knew what the game atmosphere is like. He has been to the school a lot. He’s very excited. He’s a high academic kid. He’s just excited.”

Wahee, who runs the 40 in under 4.5 seconds, started at wide receiver and linebacker for the reigning VIS Division III state champion Ambassadors. At only 5-10, 185 pounds, Wahee amassed 105 tackles including 14 tackles for loss and six pass break-ups his junior season. He is being recruited by Virginia to play cornerback or safety.
