QB Connor Jessop , DE/OLB Caleb Lindsey, OL Jackson Matteo , WR Michael Price , RB/S Derril Thomas and OL transfer Brendan Vechery top Broad Run’s (Ashburn, VA) list of 2012 college prospects. All six have the potential to be playing somewhere on the next level, but for now Matteo and Jessop lead the way in terms of being FBS-level recruits. Matteo is the first Broad Run rising senior to score FBS scholarship offers.

“I came to Broad Run last year when [Jackson] was a sophomore,” said Broad Run head coach Matt Griffis, who will be entering his second year as Broad Run head coach. “Physically and mentally, he has matured. He is 6’4″, 275 pounds, with great feet. He could easily put 30 pounds on and his footwork would still be fantastic. His strength is coming along, but with his athleticism he has impressed college coaches.”

Ball State, Kent State, Marshall, Ohio and Temple are the FBS offers for Matteo, who has offers from Bryant and Old Dominion as well. Temple, Matteo’s first major offer, came through the day of their Spring Game. He has been impressed by the Owls program but does not appear close to pulling the trigger on a commitment.

“Once I commit, that’s it,” Matteo said. “I think August is probably when I’ll commit.”
