UVa’s football program continues to roll in the commitments, today scoring a commitment from 6’5″, 265-pound offensive tackle Michael Mooney . The Malvern Prep (Malvern, PA) product is the 10th rising senior to commit to the Cavaliers program, which has secured five commits this month alone.
Mooney chose Virginia over offers from ECU, Northwestern, Purdue, and Syracuse, among others.
“I felt [UVa] was my best fit in terms of great football and academics,” Mooney told Ted Silary of the Philadelphia Daily News.
In Mooney, Virginia, which now has two offensive linemen committed in the 2012 class, scores a 2010 first-team all Inter-Ac league selection at offensive tackle. The promising prospect also plays defensive tackle at Malvern Prep.
