QB Greyson Lambert Headed To UVa

One week ago, Wayne County (Jesup, GA) rising senior quarterback Greyson Lambert made his first ever visit to the University of Virginia. Feeling so good about the experience, he wanted to commit on the spot. Lambert decided to wait, but it was just a matter of time — one week, in fact — before he would become the 21st rising high school senior to commit to the Hoos.

“About three weeks ago, I went on about a week-and-a-half long tour,” Lambert began, recalling how he came to this decision. “I traveled to Arkansas, LSU, Alabama, Tennessee, Florida and Florida State. Then, I waited and rested for about a week and went to Virginia. At Virginia I just had a different feeling. I was overwhelmed. I was really excited. The academics are top notch. They have great, unique coaches. I actually talked to Coach Moore earlier this week. I know he played quarterback there. Plus there is Coach Lazor. Plus the running backs coach, who coached quarterbacks before. There is a great opportunity for me to get the best coaching. Everything just clicked. I had such a good feeling. My dad had the same feeling. I was actually ready to commit right there on the visit, but my parents wanted me to tone it down and wait a little bit. They wanted me to see if it was real or just a visit high. I waited this week and I felt the same.

“We decided to [commit] around 11 [the morning of August 6]. My cousins have been here the past week-and-a-half. One of my cousins came with us on the trip [to UVa]. My dad came with me on the trip. I wanted it to be a family day. I went out, got some breakfast, and then I started calling. I called Coach London a couple of times but couldn’t get through. I called Coach Lazor and he turned it over to Coach London. I committed.”

Lambert had 13 offers in total, including Alabama, Boston College, Cincinnati, Clemson, Georgia, Louisville, Purdue, South Carolina, Virginia, and more. The 6’5″, 210-pound prospect admits UVa wasn’t always at the top of his list, but about a month ago he began ramping up the dialogue with the Cavaliers coaches, led by primary recruiter Vincent Brown.
