Staying Strong Through Knee Injuries

Tearing an ACL twice within one year is frustrating.

The first time whenever you have a catastrophic injury like that, you always wondering ‘What now?’ I think the first time it happened, it was toward the end of the season and we were in the last quarter of the season and I had just started to play more, started to get things on the field, and things were starting to look up for me. It was just one of those things. A freak accident. Obviously it was frustrating and disappointing, but by the same fashion I was happy that I had the opportunity to play most of the season.

I tore my ACL that first time I believe in early December. I tore it against Minnesota. It was that crazy week where the Vikings’ stadium got snowed in and we were travelling all over the place and we ended up playing at Detroit against Minnesota. It was one of those plays when running down on punt coverage and it got hit awkwardly. I didn’t really know exactly what happened. I never really had knee issues before, but I knew obviously something was wrong. They came and did the tests and told me right then and there that there was a strong potential that I had torn my ACL in my right knee.
