Senior safety/wide receiver Mike Tyson helped Lake Taylor (Norfolk, VA) to a 8-1 regular season record and an Eastern District title this season. The 6’2″, 180-pound Tyson, a versatile defender that does a little bit of everything for the Titans, is pleased with the team’s accomplishments so far, but he’s looking for more.
“It feels good, but we still have a ways to go,” said Tyson, who sealed last week’s district championship clinching win over Norcom with an interception late in the fourth quarter.
Lake Taylor, the no. 2 seed in the Eastern Region, Division 5 playoffs, will meet Great Bridge in the opening round this week. Great Bridge features productive senior running back Adriel Mayes.
“We’ve got some mess to clean up,” Tyson said. “I know Great Bridge has a good running game, but we are a run-stopping defense, so I’m not nervous about the game. We’ll be ready to play.”
