Spring Practice Update: Hoos Put on Pads

Spring football is well underway in Charlottesville as the Virginia football team wrapped up day three of practice on Friday morning. The Cavs were in shoulder pads for the first time. With the shoulder pads came more physical drills. The spring has the same rules as the fall regarding full pads. Tomorrow’s practice at Fairfax High School will be the fourth practice of the spring, and the Hoos will be in full pads.

“It’s the progression of getting guys ready,” Virginia head coach, Mike London said. “This practice is about teaching them how to form tackle, and keep their head out of contact. We get some collisions going, when guys have to stand on their feet and make plays. We want to slowly progress into our installation schedules.”

If you were not able to attend any of the practices this week, the team will hold one more open practice at the McCue Center on Friday April 6th, at 8:30 a.m. Between now and then, the Hoos will travel to Fairfax High School tomorrow for a 1 p.m. practice time. In addition, Virginia will hold an open practice at Christopher Newport University next Friday at 7:00.
