Hoos Hope To Be More Explosive

OC Bill Lazor and the Hoos want more explosive plays on offense.

As I prepared for the 2011 grade reports last August, one of the areas I identified as a major issue for the Cavaliers in 2010 and an item to watch as the upcoming season progressed was Virginia’s poor offensive scoring efficiency (OSE) numbers in 2010. OSE is the amount of yardage it takes to score one point.

In my first “Theme Warning” segment following the William & Mary contest, I noted that in 2010 “the Cavaliers finished ahead of both Maryland and Virginia Tech in the ACC in offensive yards per game. The Hoos averaged 404.8 while the Terps and Hokies averaged 402.3 and 352.8, respectively. Both teams, however, outscored Virginia by more than seven points per outing.”
