McGee Hopes To Make Mark At TE

Jake McGee turned this catch into a 47-yard gain at the Spring Game.

From the early to mid 2000’s, Virginia was known as “Tight End U.” The position was the focal point of the UVa passing attack, and five Cavalier tight ends reached the NFL. Leading the charge for Virginia was Heath Miller, who came to Charlottesville as a lightly recruited quarterback but eventually blossomed into the best tight end in school history. Now, another quarterback turned tight end is ready to leave his mark on the program.

Jake McGee was a standout quarterback for the Collegiate School in Richmond. McGee threw for 34 touchdowns and more than 3,000 yards as a senior. His impressive play earned him a scholarship to play for Mike London at the University of Richmond. When London left Richmond for UVa, McGee followed. Often times there is a fine line between an FBS and FCS talent, but London was intrigued about what McGee could bring to the table.
