UVa Heads To Houston For Latest Commit

For the second straight class, the University of Virginia has gotten a defensive back commitment out of Houston, Texas. Stratford senior Kelvin Rainey signed a letter of intent with UVa in February, and today the ‘Hoos secured a pledge from Westside junior cornerback Hipolito Corporan .

Corporan, whose 6’2″, 190-pound frame is impressive for a cornerback, chose Virginia over offers from UTEP and Tulsa. Baylor expressed heavy interest as well, and TCU headlined other programs expressing serious interest.

“I was thinking about making my decision last week. I called in today and committed,” Corporan said, confirming his decision to commit to Virginia.

Corporan has not yet visited UVa, but he says he plans to do so in late June. Virginia’s coaches and defense helped sway him to the orange and blue. Corporan and his mother spoke with Hanson and Cavaliers head coach Mike London earlier in the Evaluation Period, and the Westside standout was in touch with Hanson again last night.
