For the second time in three classes, the University of Virginia has gained a commitment from Victory Christian Academy in Lakeland, Florida. Chris Nelson , a junior defensive tackle, is the latest Storm standout to commit to the Hoos, following in the same direction as former teammate Demeitre Brim .
The stories are similar. Back in April of 2011, UVa became the first BCS program to offer a scholarship to Brim, who was then a junior at VCA. He accepted and is now a true freshman linebacker on the Cavaliers’ 2012 squad. Last month, the Cavaliers became the first to offer Nelson.
“It means a lot that they have that much belief in me to put that offer in first,” said Nelson, who is UVa’s first commitment in the class of 2014.
The 6’2″, 270-pound prospect attended Virginia’s Spring Game back in April. He left with a very positive impression of the coaches and players.
