Khalek Shepherd had 90 yards on kick returns and added another 52 rushing.

Virginia’s offense featured a ton of solid performances in the season opener against Richmond on Saturday. That tends to happen with 545 yards of offense to go around. Sophomores Darius Jennings and Khalek Shepherd , in particular, demonstrated some strong play-making skills in the Cavaliers’ 43-19 victory.

Both players surpassed 100 all-purpose yards in the contest. Shepherd led the way in that category with an admirable utility outing. He posted 52 rushing yards, 12 receiving yards, 90 kickoff return yards, and 9 punt return yards. Shepherd’s night included a career-high 12-yard catch and a career-high 59-yard kickoff return.
