Game Nuggets

• Virginia and Louisiana Tech have never played in football. The Bulldogs are the only first-time opponent on the 2012 schedule.
• UVa is 3-1 all-time against members of the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) and 2-0 against current members. That includes a 2-0 mark in Scott Stadium against WAC members. The Hoos defeated Idaho last season 21-20 in overtime.
• The last time Virginia faced a team from Louisiana at Scott Stadium was in 1968 when Tulane came to town; UVa won that game 63-47.
• Coincidentally, Virginia is honoring Frank Quayle and the 1968 team this weekend by wearing throwback uniforms modeled after that year’s look. The helmets Saturday also feature a special Quayle decal.
• UVa is one of only 11 programs to face four 2011 bowl teams in the first five weeks of the 2012 season. Louisiana Tech fell to TCU in last season’s Poinsettia Bowl, 31-24.
