Corporan Talks Visit, Commitment Status

Westside (Houston, TX) cornerback Hipolito Corporan . verbally committed to the University of Virginia back in the spring, despite the fact that he had never been to Charlottesville before. Plans to visit the grounds this past summer fell through, but the 6’2″, 190-pound senior did make an official visit to UVa this past weekend.

“First of all, I had a great time,” Corporan said. “Coming in, I was kind of scared I wouldn’t like the campus as much. I’ve never been to Virginia or the East Coast, so I thought I might be uncomfortable. But I fit right in. With the team, I felt like I fit in a lot. I was comfortable with the campus and the people around the campus.”

Freshman receiver Kyle Dockins , sophomore safety Anthony Harris , freshman cornerback Kelvin Rainey and freshman cornerback Divante Walker were the players Corporan spent the most time with throughout the weekend. Rainey, also a Houston (TX) native, was the primary host.

“I didn’t ask [Rainey] about his adjustment to UVa. I’m not really worried about going far from home,” Corporan said. “He talked about what they do when they get there, like the first things they do. They get a physical, have orientation, and other stuff. He was just telling me what goes on when you first get there.”
