Weeki Wachee (FL) offensive tackle Marcus Applefield saw his recruitment take off during the Spring Evaluation Period, when he scored 19 scholarship offers in about a month-and-a-half. This week the 6’7″, 275-pound rising senior will hit the road to visit seven of the schools that have offered, including the University of Virginia.

Vanderbilt was the first stop on Applefield’s college visit tour. He and his father arrived in Nashville yesterday. In order, he next plans to tour Kentucky, West Virginia, Marshall, Rutgers, Maryland, and UVa. He will be visiting all of these schools for the first time.

Of Virginia, Applefield says, “I don’t know much about them right now. When I take the visit there and to all of these schools, I plan to find out a lot more.”

The plan is for Applefield to be in Charlottesville on Saturday, June 15, which is also the day of UVa’s Big Man Camp and 7-on-7 Tournament.
