Eli Harold had 11 tackles with 2 sacks vs. BYU.

Sophomore Virginia defensive end Eli Harold put in a stellar performance to open up the 2013 football season. Harold camped out in BYU’s backfield much of the evening, racking up 11 tackles with 3.5 of them for loss. He sacked Cougars’ quarterback Taysom Hill twice.

A lot of comparisons to former All-American defensive end Chris Slade are being made by a number of UVa football alumni, including Cavalier Sports Network radio commentator Tony Covington, who was Slade’s teammate in 1990. Covington suggested that Harold may be a faster version of Slade, and Harold’s performance against BYU on Saturday didn’t do anything to negate the comparison.
