OL Richardson Talks Enrollment, UVa Pledge

When Will Richardson verbally committed to the University of Virginia in May of 2013, the plan was to graduate early from Cummings High School (Burlington, N.C.) and enroll at UVa in January of 2014. The 6’6″, 300-pound senior has changed his mind, however, and will now graduate high school next spring.

“I’m going to enroll in college in the summer. It gives me more time to think about my decision,” Richardson said. “I’m still committed to Virginia, but I wanted more time to think things through. I sat down with my mom, my dad and my brother. We talked about the pros and cons of enrolling early. I just decided to take more time.”

Florida State is still recruiting Richardson, who did not rule out the possibility of taking an official visit to Tallahassee. Right now, though, it appears this race will come down to N.C. State and Virginia.

“As long as schools are still recruiting me, I’m still going to give them a chance,” Richardson said. “If another school proves to be a better fit for me, that’s where I’ll go. I’ve visited State a couple of times. I might go there on an official visit this weekend or next. But I’m still fully committed to UVa.”
