Good Counsel ATH Chooses Hoos

Good Counsel (Olney, MD) wide receiver/cornerback Myles Robinson has verbally committed to the University of Virginia. Robinson, who tweeted the news this afternoon, gives the Hoos commitment no. 15 in the class of 2015.

Robinson’s only visit to UVa came during his sophomore year, but the experience resonated strongly. He plans to return to Charlottesville on August 16, only this time it’ll be as a Cavalier recruit.

“I always had an interest in UVA and I visited around my sophomore year and really liked what I saw,” Robinson wrote in a direct message to TheSabre.com.

All four national recruiting outlets – 247Sports, ESPN, Rivals and Scout – rank the 5’11”, 175-pound rising senior as a 3-star prospect. In addition to UVa, Robinson, an Honorable Mention All-WCAC selection at defensive back in 2013, reportedly held offers from Michigan State, Ohio State and West Virginia.

Virginia’s coaches have indicated that Robinson can start out playing whatever position – wide receiver or corner – he feels most comfortable with. The versatile athlete says he is “extremely confident at both wide receiver and cornerback” but is “kind of leaning towards cornerback.”

“I feel my strengths are my ball skills and my instincts,” Robinson answered when asked about his talents at cornerback.

Good Counsel, a powerhouse in the talent-rich WCAC, has been good to the UVa football program. Most recently, the Cavaliers signed three Falcon products in the class of 2013 in cornerback Kirk Garner, receiver Andre Levrone and quarterback Brendan Marshall.

“The former [Good Counsel] players had a big influence on my decision. I talked to Andre Levrone and I liked what I heard,” Robinson said.
