Hoos Gain Commitment From NJ TE Christian Baumgardner

The University of Virginia football program lost a class of 2016 commitment earlier this week, when offensive lineman Grayson Stover announced that he was reopening his recruitment. The Hoos rebounded quickly, landing a pledge earlier today from tight end prospect Christian Baumgardner, a 6’5″, 240-pound rising senior out of Ocean City High School in New Jersey.

Baumgardner committed while on Grounds on a visit. He attended a Virginia one-day camp in June, which is when he earned an offer from head coach Mike London.

“I like that they have great academics, a great campus and there’s a lot of history with the program. I met with the coaches and I knew I wanted to be apart of the program,” Baumgardner told Braulio Perez of NJ.com in this article.

Connecticut and Old Dominion are among the other schools that offered Baumgardner.

UVa now has 20 commits in the class of 2016, including two tight end prospects.
