Western Albemarle (Charlottesville, VA) senior defensive end Osiris Crutchfield had his first in-depth experience at UVA this past Saturday, when he visited UVA unofficially for the Duke game. On Sunday, the 6’4”, 225-pound prospect announced his verbal commitment to the Cavaliers, accepting the scholarship offer he received in late October.

“It feels really good because you worry about it for a long time. When it finally happens it feels like a weight comes off your shoulders,” Crutchfield said of his commitment.

“I went to the visit for the game against Duke, saw the facilities and got to meet the coaches. That kind of pushed me over the edge. I got to see the ins and outs of the program and the school. They did a real good job of telling me what I would get out of the experience.”

Despite being 4-7 heading into this week’s matchup with rival Virginia Tech, the Virginia football program showed some things to Crutchfield in a 42-34 win over Duke.
