DL Christian Brooks Still Committed To UVA

Describing former Virginia head coach Mike London, Centreville (Clifton, VA) senior defensive lineman and Cavalier commitment Christian Brooks said: “He’s a stand-up guy and is really nice and dedicated to the team. I just like him a lot and want to play for him.”

Brooks’ comments came before London announced his resignation on Sunday, November 29. Since then, Virginia has announced former BYU coach Bronco Mendenhall as its new head football coach. New UVA assistant coach Kelly Poppinga has been in contact recently, but where does the Wildcats standout stand with his college choice?

“I am still solid on UVA. I really don’t have a take on the new coach because I’ve haven’t met him yet. But from his record and others he seems like a stand-up dude and is very nice. I want to get to know him before my official visit and see how he really is. Also I don’t know who the D-line coach is yet. So I’ll see,” Brooks wrote in a direct message over Twitter.

Connecticut, Nevada, Miami, Vanderbilt and Wake Forest extended scholarship offers to Brooks, but ultimately the 6’5”, 230-pound defender narrowed his focus to Cincinnati, NC State, Pittsburgh and Virginia. On October 31, he decided he would go ahead and commit to Virginia.
