Team Takeover 17U Will Play For Peach Jam Championship On Sunday

Team Takeover 17U defeated City Rocks (N.Y.) and MOKAN Elite on Saturday (July 14) to advance to the Peach Jam Championship game for the second-consecutive year. Takeover will face Team Why Not (CA) at 2 p.m. ET on Sunday (July 15) for the title. The game will be televised by ESPNU.

University of Virginia commit Casey Morsell had 5 points (2-5 shooting, 1-4 from 3-point range), 2 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal and 1 turnovers (per iScore Sports) as Team Takeover rallied to beat City Rocks, 65-57, in the quarterfinal round Saturday afternoon. The City Rocks held a 4-point lead at halftime before ultimately falling to the tournament’s top seed.

In the semifinal Saturday night, Team Takeover grabbed a 30-18 halftime lead and cruised to a 61-54 victory. Per D1Circuit.com, the 6’2”, 175-pound Morsell had 5 points (2-5 shooting, 1-3 from 3), 1 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 turnover in the win.

This will be Team Takeover’s second consecutive appearance in the Peach Jam Championship. They fell short of their title goal last year, falling to the Oakland Soldiers (CA). UVA first-year point guard Kihei Clark led the Soldiers with 18 points, earning MVP honors for his performance.
