Virginia Football Is In Top Junior All-Purpose Back Chris Tyree’s Top 10

Thomas Dale (Chester, VA) all-purpose back Chris Tyree, one of the top class of 2020 prospects in country, revealed his top 10 on Wednesday (December 5).

The speedy junior stressed that his recruitment is “100% still open” and added that he “will not be shutting any schools off” before writing that the “following 10 schools show that they are the best fit for me at this time.”

In alphabetical order, Tyree’s top 10 includes Florida State, Michigan, Mississippi State, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Penn State, Stanford, Virginia and Virginia Tech.

The 5’10”, 175-pound Tyree was a standout on both sides of the ball this past season for Thomas Dale, earning Class 6, Region B first-team honors at running back and defensive back. Look for him to play offense on the major college level, however. He is rated the no. 1 all-purpose back in the country in his class by Rivals and 247Sports.

Virginia has two commitments so far in the class of 2020. There is cornerback Antonio Webb, Jr., who attends Chester (VA) Life Christian Academy, which is within minutes of Thomas Dale High. Defensive lineman Jahmeer Carter of Maryland has committed to the Hoos as well.

UVA signed eight in-state recruits in the 2017 Class, which was the first full class with Bronco Mendenhall as head coach. The Hoos signed three recruits from the Commonwealth in 2018 and have four in-state commits in 2019.
