Fresh off of its first winning regular season since 2011 and clinching a second consecutive bowl appearance for the first time since 2004 and 2005, the University of Virginia football program is poised to sign its most highly rated recruiting class since 2013. As of this writing, Virginia’s 2019 haul is rated among the top 40 in the nation by both Rivals (33) and 247Sports (39). The last time UVA accomplished this feat was 2013, when the Hoos inked a top 30 class nationally according to Rivals and 247Sports.
As is the case every National Signing Day, TheSabre.com will have a full rundown of the committed players and will update each prospect from “committed” to “signed” as the letters of intent are announced. We will also provide any late breaking news, including new additions or defections, if there is any.
Wednesday, December 19 is the first day of the Division 1 Football Early Signing Period. Friday, December 21 is the last day for class of 2019 recruits to sign early. Wednesday, February 6 is the start of Division 1 Football’s Regular Signing Period, but if last year is any indication, look for most, if not all, of Virginia’s class to sign early.
Virginia head football coach Bronco Mendenhall is expected to hold a press conference at 3:30 p.m. ET on December 19. The press conference will be streamed live on Facebook – click here to watch coach comment on his class and possibly the upcoming Belk Bowl versus South Carolina.
As of this writing, Virginia boasts 22 commitments in the 2019 Class. There are three decisions we will be watching closely during this Early Signing Period.
Devin Baldwin, DL, Southfield A&T (Southfield, MI)
Baldwin took an official visit to UVA this past weekend. He is considering offers from Virginia, Rutgers and Wake Forest after decommitting from Western Michigan earlier this month. Baldwin isn’t committed to signing early let alone to a school at this point, but he hasn’t ruled out signing early either.
**UPDATE**: Baldwin announced his commitment to and then signed with Rutgers.
Nathaniel Beal III, WR, Strake Jesuit (Houston, TX)
The 6’5”, 205-pound wide receiver committed to Iowa State this past summer. Virginia offered a scholarship in November, he took a trip to Charlottesville in December, and now the Cavaliers appear to be trending here.
**UPDATE**: Per Cyclone Report (Rivals), Beal has decommitted from Iowa State and reopened his recruitment. However, he reportedly will not sign early.
**NEW UPDATE**: Signing Day surprise! Beal has signed a letter of intent with UVA!
Tenyeh Dixon, CB, H.D. Woodson (Washington, D.C.)
Dixon took an official visit to UVA this past weekend. He tweeted this past Sunday that he was down to Temple and Virginia and would sign with one of those two on Wednesday. Dixon tweeted on Monday that he had decommitted from the Owls, which obviously is a good sign for the Hoos. He has not publicly committed to UVA, but UVA is my pick heading into tomorrow.
**UPDATE**: UVA gets the flip as Dixon signs with the Hoos.
We will report the latest on Baldwin, Beal, Dixon, and any other breaking news that occurs on this page. Meanwhile, below is the rundown of Virginia football’s 2019 Class, including player, position, height and weight, school and location, star ranking and commitment status. We will update all information as it comes in from VirginiaSports.com. For example, if Virginia Football provides a different position than we currently have, we will make the change on this page. Most importantly, check in often on this page as we change the status of each play from “committed” to “signed.”
