Junior guard Kyle Guy calmly sank three free throws with 0.6 seconds remaining to give Virginia basketball a 63-62 win over Auburn in the Final Four Saturday evening in Minneapolis. Guy scored six points in the final 7.4 seconds of regulation, helping the Hoos overcome a 61-57 deficit. The victory puts UVA, which has made three Final Fours, in the NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship game for the first time in school history.
We took to Twitter for reaction to Cavaliers’ latest history-making feat, and we begin with UVA head coach Tony Bennett’s postgame message to his team, who will take on Texas Tech in the championship game on Monday night. Go Hoos!

It had to be Kyle.
After UMBC.
After the Facebook post—
And the magazine articles—
And accepting every lazy reporter’s UMBC question, and doing it with a laugh. It ABSOLUTELY had to be Kyle Guy.
And it was.
And he did.

Call it what you want. Kid has to make 3 free throws with .6 on the clock to go to the championship. So happy for you @kylejguy5 clutch meter on 💯
— Bryce Alford (@balford20) April 7, 2019
Don’t let that call distract you from the fact that Kyle Guy went Reggie Miller and scored 6 points in 6.5 seconds….

I have no idea what Virginia’s Kyle Guy’s major is, but if I ever need open heart surgery, I’d like him to be the surgeon.

Kyle Guy just sank 3 clutch free throws with .6 seconds left to send @UVA to the national title game and he probably belongs on the Mt. Rushmore of @UVAMensHoops. But it’s what he’s done off the court that’s made him my favorite player. #GoHoos https://t.co/ZChc8QG5Mb

You can argue over whether it was a foul (it was).
Or whether the double dribble was missed (it was).
But don’t say the refs decided the game. @KyleJGuy5 decided the game by sinking three straight free throws under INSANE pressure. Nails. https://t.co/jWVXetR0tm— Rachel Nichols (@Rachel__Nichols) April 7, 2019
Auburn has fouled a 3 point shooter to win the game twice in this tournament. Got off the hook in round one. Not so lucky with @kylejguy5!!!!!
