Fresh off a three-game, 36-to-8 run differential sweep of Pittsburgh, the Virginia baseball team, now winners of eight of its last nine, will look to make that nine of 10 against Richmond on Tuesday.

The Hoos let it be known starting Friday night that they had bad intentions when they arrived in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The Hoos crushed the home team 18-2 with the game ending after seven innings due to the new 10-run rule.

UVA coach Brian O’Connor called game one an “uncharacteristic “ Friday in the ACC with the massive scoring effort from his offense. More importantly, it put the Hoos on solid ground for the rest of the series.

In game two Virginia jumped on Panther starter Jack Sokol for 5 runs in the top of the second and Pitt never was closer than 4 runs. Evan Blanco was steady on the mound yielding only 3 runs in 5.2 innings. He had 6 strikeouts while throwing 71% of his pitches for strikes. The win was Blanco’s second of the season.
