The 2020-2021 University of Virginia men’s basketball season is set to tipoff on Wednesday, November 25, when the No. 4-ranked Hoos take on Towson at 1:30 p.m. as part of “Bubbleville 2020” at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut.

Fans can listen to the broadcast on the Virginia Sports Radio Network, VirginiaSports.com and on the Virginia Sports app. Live statistics can be found on VirginiaSports.com and through the Virginia Sports app.

Towson is a last-minute replacement for Maine as Virginia’s season-opening opponent. The Tigers went 19-13 last season but will have to replace its top three leading scorers. Sophomore guard Jason Gibson, who started the final 19 games of last season and earned All-CAA Rookie team honors, is one of the top returning players. The 6’1”, 165-pound guard averaged 8.4 points, 2.1 assists and 0.7 steals per game last season while coming in third on the team in average minutes per game (25.2).

The Tigers had six players average over 20 minutes per game last season. Gibson and 6’8” forward Juwan Gray are the only returning players from that group. Gray, a redshirt senior, averaged 7.0 points and 4.3 rebounds per game last season. He added 14 blocks, tied for second on the team in that category.

On Friday, November 27, Virginia is scheduled to take on San Francisco. Tip time for this matchup is 11:30 a.m. and ESPN is set to televise.

UVA’s 2020-2021 team is the third in school history to enter the season ranked in the Associated Press preseason Top 5.
