Ethan Minter Commits To Virginia

The Virginia football program picked up its first commitment from the Class of 2024 when Thomas Dale athlete Ethan Minter pledged to the Hoos. The in-state recruit also had offers from Virginia Tech, James Madison, Liberty, Maryland, and more.

Minter announced his decision in a ceremony at his high school.

The left-handed prospect played multiple positions for TDHS, including quarterback and punter. He completed 116 of 167 passes for 1,916 yards, 17 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions this past season according to his MaxPreps.com profile. He also had 96 carries for 947 yards and 14 touchdowns this past season. For his career, he has posted 3,658 passing yards with 30 TDs and 8 INTs plus 2,040 rushing yards with 30 touchdowns. At punter, he’s averaged 40.6 yards on 41 punts the past two seasons. The production earned him First-Team All-Region 6A recognition.

Minter projects as an “athlete” recruit for the college level and he told the Richmond Times-Dispatch that he is a open to playing any position the team needs. On3 and 247 both rate Minter as a 3-star recruit among the top 40 recruits in the state of Virginia. In the last two recruiting classes, UVA brought in a quarterback as a January enrollee (Davis Lane in 2022 and Anthony Colandrea in 2023). 2022 commit Delaney Crawford has also worked at quarterback this spring.

Virginia coach Tony Elliott has wanted to place a priority on in-state and regional recruiting so this gets the Class of 2024 off to a good start in that regard. Minter, who reportedly carries a 4.7 GPA. received an offer from the previous coaching staff as well before being offered by Elliott and company.

This is the second recruiting pick-up of the week for the Hoos, who also received a commitment from Dayton transfer Brian Stevens on the offensive line.
