KeShawn Adams, 2024 Safety, Commits To Virginia Football

The Virginia football team picked up another prospect from the Northeast over the weekend when a Connecticut safety made the call for the Hoos. KeShawn Adams committed to UVA on Saturday as the 10th member of the class of 2024.

Adams joined Ethan Minter (Virginia), John Rogers (Virginia), Benjamin York (Virginia), Grant Ellinger (Illinois), Christian Zachary (South Carolina), Chase Morrison (Georgia), Jaylin Lackey (Georgia), Cedric Franklin II (Georgia), and Triston Ward (Massachusetts) in the class.

Adams announced his decision on social media.

Adams chose the Cavaliers over offers from Duke, Syracuse, Connecticut, Temple, West Virginia, and others. He is the latest commitment out of a group of visitors that came to UVA earlier this month on official visits. 247 sports rates the safety as the 10th best prospect in the state of Connecticut. He’s a 3-star recruit in 247’s ratings, which matches all of the first 10 commitments in the class.

The 6’0”, 190-pound prospect projects as a safety prospect for the Hoos. That’s the second safety in the class joining Cedric Franklin II at that position. With UVA running a scheme with hybrid positions under defensive coordinator John Rudzinski, there are often three safeties on the field so it is an important position in recruiting.

According to his Hudl profile, Adams recorded a 4.21-second shuttle and a vertical leap of 37 inches. Avon Old Farms defensive line coach Ian Bomely wrote on Twitter that Adams is a “leader and an even better man” while head coach Jon Wholley wrote that he was proud of his team captain.
